Professor Bessac is a social anthropologist whose
specific interest is Asia, especially China. He conducted
fieldwork in Inner Asia and Taiwan. Professor Bessac is
interested in Asian ethnology and Chinese social change. He
earned his Ph.D. from University of Wisconsin in 1963. Though
retired now, he is still frequetly sighted in the halls, and
occasionally serves on graduate thesis committees.
